Street Talk

Street talk
Street talk

You can smell the people
Tell what they've been thinking
You can feel their clothing
Know what they've been drinking

Oh, a hot rod Lincoln

And if you watch them walk
(You) can tell where they have been
You might even understand
(All the) ways that they have sinned

Summer has barely started -
She can feel him filling firm
Autumn's coming is far, far off
She'll make him wait his turn

If you listen to them talk
Hear everything they've heard
You might just be able to
Memorize every word

Theatre is absurd

But if you watch their eyes
And lead them where they go
You will see what they have seen
You'll know what they think they know

And Summer's got a groove on now
And sturdy in her hands
Autumn bids her to her knees
She smiles, she understands

And if you rest your head
In the places they have slept
You learn a bit about their dreams
And promises they have kept

Theory so inept

And when the night is glowing
And everything seems calm
The river's deep, overflowing
And lovers share their charms

And Summer's nearly finished
She can taste the season's flow
She's begging now for Autumn
Holding back and letting go

And on the last night of Summer
All the boys and girls
Have changed out all their outfits
To wave away their world

This knuckle to be knurled

And when they get to where they're going
They wander in the rain
The rest the last, they never know
If they'll feel Summer again

And Autumn's finished coming
You can taste him on her breath
She's bending over, falling now
She squeals a little death

(No hurry she's still wet)

And then it's over, now we'll sweep
Pile these rocks, a filling heard
Herringbone, these empty streets
Too little thought, too many words

You'd like the answer first

Fewer words, more pages turned
We find our ages in this world
Amidst these gems - this weather swirls
Pressed for time, we miss our girl

We miss, we miss, we miss our girl
