Well, it's finally nice enough out to get back to work on this beastie.

The first order of business I promised it last fall is to prime the surface rust patches with POR-15 and get a coat of paint on it to protect the unfinished primer its builder left it in.

On Saturday I roughed up the rust with a wire brush and primed it; on Sunday I bought a gallon of

"Safety (Stop Sign) Red"

oil-based enamel and a six inch brush and went to town. The photo to the right shows off my careful work on the sills and door edges, and below be the whole truck.

Although I only did the "outside", I also want to do something like this to the vulnerable areas under the cab and bed - hopefully with some thick, durable undercoat as well to fend off chipping and other damage.
