At fifteen new friends could easily be found
In an instant with a t-shirt or tattoo*
What we loved best was easy to express
The best and a few others will do

At sixteen new sex was easy to assess
The woods near high school, a parking lot
Clumsy buckles and tripped-over ankles
It's getting harder try not to get caught

Our interests were not yet broadly developed
We knew what spoke to us the most

When weed was in town anybody could get it
We all knew just where to look
If anyone had it we were all getting high
We knew how to live by the Book

At seventeen some of us were older than old
At eighteen we knew who we were
Others among us took a lifetime to find
The way to be they prefer

At thirteen life started getting confusing
All these things flowing through our veins
Life wasn't as simple as it'd always been
And we never went back to the rains
We never pulled back on the reins
We never cared for kings' reigns

At fourteen new friends could always be found
Instantly by t-shirts or tattoos
