Winter Ways (Upon Us)

Whether we walk under wood or swim under water
The winter ways upon us now
A careful trip is so well-covered
Ten times the planning of the summer

Until the frost-gripped nights are vanished
We line our grids with wool, cold banished

Gloves and shovels rule our chores
Fuel is stocked but not all here
Clothing alternated upstairs doors
And food is chained across hemispheres

refrain

It's not like when a village killed a whale
And had light until the dawn of Spring
It's not like when we'd hunt for food and clothing
It's really better in this everything

refrain

This interconnection comes with a price
We've disconnected from things less like us
You do yourself well to keep a finger dirty
And stop to breathe in a cloudless Moon

refrain

Whether we walk under wood or swim under water
The winter ways upon us now
