What the Hell

I thought we were anti-fascist until
Oh what the hell have we done?
We fought them at home
   Fought them over there
Oh what the hell have we done

We were mothballing the statues
Erected to the heroes of hate
Now they're going around
Putting evil pride back in place

When he withdraws half the Army
The resistance calls it a victory
No lunch, no scowls, no clearing streets
We think we've won some history

We're watching our allies hedge their bets
We think they'll wait for our return
When trade routes shift to work around us
We think they'll selling next year

We've been watching our brothers
Beaten to death on the sidewalk
For daring nothing more scary
Than have a sit down and talk

When the quislings in government only offer
"In a year vote for more of us!"
It makes you wonder - oh it makes me wonder
If there's a way out of this mess

When daddy puts away his belt
We can all stop playing pretend
When he puts down the baseball bat
Mother sighs as if it's the end

(repeat chorus and fade)
