A More Perfect Union
White minority rule
What a terrible way
For a Republic to collapse
If we work together
We can take this down
We'll build something better on its back
Perhaps the various States
Had best combine and form
A new and more perfect Union
'Cause this one's been assaulted,
Battered, beaten, broken
By power-hungry men
Maybe we'll leave the ones
Who take and don't give back
To fend for themselves
We don't need these racial attacks
Maybe we all join together
If the values we can agree
Are decent and engender
Our greater humanity
But extremists torture and abuse
These neutral levers of power
Pretending that their violence is wanted
Taking total control
Aiming to break it all
Into little pieces like they taunted
Perhaps the various States
Had best combine and form
A new and more perfect Union
'Cause this one's broken into
Robbed, ransacked in daylight
By power-hungry men
The newsroom has a heart attack
Old men stretch for power
Tanks in streets watch your back
These men would kill a flower
They'd kill an acorn sooner
Than let it grow a tree
They'll kill your children slowly
Before paying for a meal
White male minority rule
What a terrible thing
To bring a Republic to ruin
Perhaps the various States
Had best combine and form
A new and more perfect Union
