A Chill (Being Left Out in the Cold)

When I look in your eyes now I get a chill
It's not the same as when it was a thrill
All that I see is the distance to me
From wherever you went to retreat
Couldn't see me and stay this free

Maybe it's still there, behind some sort of wall
But I can't seem to get through it at all
The warmth that used to light up your eyes
Is gone like you turned off the switch of a light
You turned away so far out of sight

It used to be easy, a natural thing
When one of us turned up, the other could sing
But now it's more nervous, off-balance, untrue
And I only feel a chill when I'm near you
I only see winter when I look at you

And I only feel a chill when I'm near you
I only see winter when I look at you
