I Don't Want the Days to Hurry By

I remember wishing days would hurry by
I don't ever want the days to hurry by
Even if they turn unpleasant
Even if I don't know why
I don't want the days to hurry by

A slowing of time, this passage wide
All the time can gracely fly
Even if the winds turn grey with bluster
Even if the rain lacks any lustre
I don't want the days to hurry by

For every minute I want to examine
Every minute deserves its time
Even when tedium is heavy
Even when it seems to pass is ready
I don't want the days to hurry by

I remember times I wished were over soon
I wished I could do more than think at times
When work was grinding down my hours
When play was scarce - when joy was sour
I don't want the days to hurry by

I still don't want the days to hurry by
