Manufacturing production should only be such as to meet man's basic material needs for survival and not be the sine qua non of an economic system. The benefits of such production should be spread equally throughout the population before another level of material comfort is developed, established, or acceptable.

Some might call this rampant socialism. I just call it sensible.
