On Your Own Road

When we felt we could barely survive
When we felt we were buried alive
We had to crawl out of every hole
On our own
By ourselves

While they who could help with a shovel
Just stood idly by

When we were bold we'd often crack
From every slip and fall to grow back
We had to do it alone
On our own
By ourselves

While they sat in judgement as we climbed
Never lending a hand

(instrumental)

And when you felt you had nothing left
Life was choking you out of breath
You had to beg for every gasp
On your own
By yourself

While they could have brought you a little fresh air
But they just blew on by

And yet you continue to glow inside
And you never repeat these crimes
The only one you can count on
Life on your own
Here by yourself

You're on your own road
