In Your Attic

I'm your quiet uncle and we're going underground

I'm up here in my attic
I write these little tropes
I sing to everyone around
Maybe change your hopes

I'm your oldest cousin and they've got us on the ropes

I'm down here in the cellar
I read these musty tomes
Poring out the past and future
Find your soul alone

I'm your favorite teacher - you can do this on your own

I'm climbing up this tower
To see what I can breathe
Pull me down and look me up
You're a mystery to me

I'm your dearest brother and you mean the world to me

(guitar stuff)

I'm your long-lost lover and we can all be free

I'm out here on the lakefront
Soaking up my toes
Something sliding up the stems
To fertilize your rose

I'm your summer lover and
I see your flower shows

I'm a warning to you all and Ebenezer knows

I'm up here in your attic
You knew I was in town
Clank my chains and tired bones
For your lions and your clowns

I'm your dusty granddad and a battle's what we've found
I'm your quiet uncle and we're going underground

I'm your oldest cousin and they've got us on the ropes
I'm your favorite teacher - you can do this on your own

I'm your dearest brother and you mean the world to me
I'm your long-lost lover and we can all be free
