Burning Rocks

when rocks burn, dust closing in
when rocks burn it changes
every little thing
(changes every living thing)

digging rocks, breaking rocks, hauling rocks, burning rocks
selling rocks, buying rocks, killing just to get more rocks

staying warm with dirty air
dirty walls and dirty hair
staying warm with acid rain
empty forest, lakes in pain
(empty lakes and green is drained)

digging rocks, breaking rocks, hauling rocks, burning rocks
selling rocks, buying rocks, killing just to get more rocks

life without the smoke and grime
people dream of such a time
down ev'ry road through ev'ry door
they bring rocks that we forswore
(setting fires and starting wars)

digging rocks, breaking rocks, hauling rocks, burning rocks
selling rocks, buying rocks, killing just to get more rocks

when rocks burn, dust closing in
when rocks burn it poisons
every living thing
(poisons every little thing)

digging rocks, breaking rocks, hauling rocks, burning rocks
selling rocks, buying rocks, killing just to get more rocks

so let's move this mountain top
over there and carve it up
at her heart we'll build a town
kill the mountain burn her crown
(burn her even underground)

digging rocks, breaking rocks, hauling rocks, burning rocks
selling rocks, buying rocks, killing just to get more rocks

we're trying to make rocks clean
we're trying to make rocks safe
leaving scars leftover rocks
we'll never heal this place
(and we'll never leave this place)
