A Peculiar Shade of Blue

I don't know where she was going with you
But she came home a new shade of blue
Maybe the wine or just that you're new
She looked away and back a little blue

I've seen her green, I've seen her red
But making her blue won't get you in bed
I've seen her run red, go down for the green
But the blues I'm hearing won't make her scream

Basketball, hockey, the game you went to
It's a winter thing, no wonder she's blue
I don't know what you thought was cool
Came home peculiar shade of blue

If you think it's time or too far to go
Let her relax and go with the flow
If you've gone too far to make it this time
Slow down and back up, your taxi's in line

Street lights lined up, side of the road
Deep shade of blue, veins running cold
Coat and old boots a blanket of snow
A gently shared blue-eyed wink lets you know

I've seen her green, I've seen her red
But making her blue won't get you in bed
I've seen her run red, go down for the green
But the blues I'm hearing won't make her scream

Get back down the green, rise to her red
Help her warm up, she'll have you instead
